Eric Craig Professor King English 1a 8/16/2017 I Believe There are many things in this world that define a person. Something that I believe in that I believe can help everyone succeed would be hard work and dedication. My whole life I have fell behind academically because I never worked hard in school, or for anything for that matter. I’m kind of just self diagnosing myself but I really think that I just get bored in class and it makes me not want to pay attention or do anything, and I believe this is something that has held me back for my whole academic career. Recently though as of spring semester of 2017, I have really shifted my mindset. I started paying more attention to stories of other people’s successes and it’s made me realise that everyone has something in common: a good work ethic and dedication. I believe that these are the tools that we need for success especially in the competitive job market in which we see today. I believe that it shouldn’t matter your background or where you come from or your ethnicity or whatever it may be, I believe that if you keep your mindset right you can achieve anything you set your mind to. For example, even just this essay. For me about 3 years ago, i would’ve probably just blown this whole assignment off or done it last minute and just bull shit the whole thing. But through the revelation I went through this passed year I believe the right thing to do would be to write it out and take my time to make sure I get my point across. Although I’ve found hard work to be my biggest struggle yet, I can’t begin to explain how rewarding it feels to do a job well done. So therefore I believe that I will become a successful person later on in my life if I am to keep up with this new found knowledge, and I believe everyone can find success if they share the same value of hard work that I do. Bottom line is, it doesn’t matter where you come from but it’s where you end up. And hard work academically and in everyday life is something that will get you wherever you want to go in life.
